The cattery

When we decided to live with a cat, the first question was: yes, but what type of cat? Should have lot of hair and a good temper, and that was the only things we were sure of. One day, on the web, we see a picture of a Norwegian forest cat and we fell in love.
In December 2006 Spike arrives and in a few months we have just understand that he could not remain alone… in June 2007 arrives Holly from Sweden, in July Millenia from Novara and in September Daisy from Denmark.
Kendermore’s cats lives in our apartment, free to goes everywhere they like, with no closed door. They sleep on our bed, pampered and cuddly and… they are members of our family! ;)
They are also free to go outside, in our enclosed balcony, where they can enjoy fresh air, sun and, why not? the cold winter, without any danger for their security. The balcony is closed with a wood-structure and a hard net, that means a solid, robust and also nice-to-see enclusure.

Our way of breeding NFO

We work for preservate and protect the breed, like so the nature gave us. Our ideal Norwegian is a big and strong cat, but elegant, with big and perfect-positioned ears, triangled head, straight profile (but not necessarily extreme) and a great hair texture.

But besides all, two things are really important:

  • the temper, that has to be excellent: Norwegian Forest cat is a simply delicious and adorable cat, always self-confident in every occasion, cuddly and happy and is exactly like this that we want all our kittens to be.

  • the health: besides normal check-up, we test our cats for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), FELV (Feline Leukemia Virus), HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy), PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) and GSD IV (glycogen storage disease type IV). All our cats are periodically tested and vaccinated.

Our kittens are ready to leave not before 12-13 weeks old, for their full immunologic and temper develop. They are fully vaccinated and dewormed; have a AFeF/WCF pedigree, an health certificate from our veterinary, are ID-marked with the chip and we do a transfer contract.

Our cattery is registered FIFé (Zo Senec Club Italia) and WCF (AFeF) and is memeber  of Skogkattslingan and AID Skogkatt.

Our cattery has joined the “No Pet Shops” campaign.

Why Kendermore?

The name of our cattery, Kendermore, derives from a magic land, Krynn, from the novels by Weis and Hickman, probably the best-seller fantasy writers in the recent years. Here you can find something about Dragonlance, the famous saga they created.
In Krynn lives the kenders, such a dwarf-elf cross. They are very curious, they talk a lot, love trips, are kleptomaniac and fearless. This strange folks lives in Kendermore, a place where private ownership is a non-sense, where you can stole everything you want and the most important party is the “breaking into party”.
Well, they seem to be Norwegian Forest cat, don’t they? ;)
